Illinois Amends School Visitation Rights Act
Effective, August 1, 2020, the Illinois legislature has amended the Act to prohibit employers from terminating an employee for an absence from work if it is due solely to their attendance at a school conference, behavioral meeting, or academic meeting. Click here for further information and forms.
Chicago Anti-Retaliation Ordinance Amended
Prior to the recent amendment, the Ordinance provided that employers could not demote nor terminate a covered employee, which is an employee who stayed at home to obey a public health order or for reasons related to COVID-19. The amended Ordinance now provides that employers are prohibited from taking any adverse action against employees, not limited to termination and demotion. Learn more here.
