National Employee Appreciation Day!

National Employee Appreciation Day is celebrated every first Friday in March, which is March 1st this year. It was started in 1995 by Dr. Bob Nelson, who wrote the book 1,001 Ways to Reward Employees. This day is an opportunity to remember the importance of appreciating employees.
As competition for talent increases, companies showing their employees that they are appreciated is more important than ever. Doing so helps retain talent, increases engagement, and encourages high performance. Some ways to celebrate the day include free food, gift cards, happy hour, and extra time off. Saying thank you is a simple yet powerful way to show appreciation and a written thank you can go a long way in a digital world.
Employee appreciation is not just one day; it is an ongoing activity. Check in regularly with your employees, listen to them, show them that you appreciate them. Champion continuous learning, offer growth and opportunity, and invest in programs that support employees.
