But whether coverage is mandated by law or not, the more important answer is that workers’ comp insurance is the sole remedy for risks associated with injuries or incidents that occur in the workplace. It is also insurance against lawsuits and other unforeseen expenses.

Costs for workers’ compensation insurance are based on state rates, but adjusted for your company’s loss history and whether you qualify for an experience modifier. In addition, though, business owners should shop among carriers for the best premium costs.
