Work Permits for 14 and 15 yr. olds
SB 427 reforms the employment process for 14- and 15-year-olds by eliminating the previous requirement for work permits. Instead, employers must now obtain an age certificate from the State Commissioner of Labor or an authorized representative before hiring minors in this age group. This certificate must include the minor's full name, date and place of birth, parental or guardian consent, school attendance verification, and a job description provided by the employer, ensuring compliance with child labor laws and restrictions on hazardous occupations.
