Pay Frequency and Final Pay Requirements
Effective July 1, 2026, for employees paid on a piece rate or commission basis, wages earned are due and payable by the last day of the next month.
Also, the final pay of such employees must be paid by the last day of the next month following the date of voluntary or involuntary termination.
Salary Threshold for Noncompete Agreements
Effective July 1, 2026, a noncompete agreement is unenforceable in Tennessee against an employee whose annualized compensation is less than $70,000.
Annualized compensation includes wages, salary, commissions, nondiscretionary bonuses, and other forms of remuneration, calculated on an annualized basis.
